Product Description

The F-15 Eagle, built by McDonnell Douglas, is a twin-engine, high-performance, all-weather air superiority fighter. First flown on July 27, 1972, the Eagle began entering the USAF inventory on November 14, 1974. It was the first U.S. fighter to have engine thrust greater than the normal weight of the aircraft, allowing it to accelerate while in a vertical climb. This, combined with low aircraft weight compared to wing area, made the Eagle highly maneuverable. The Eagle has been produced in single-seat and two-seat versions. During Operation Desert Storm F-15Cs conducted counter-air operations over Iraq. They escorted strike aircraft over long distances and scored 36 aerial victories during the conflict.

About this Handcrafted Wooden Model Aircraft:
This beautiful handmade airplane model is an authentic replica made from the finest grade of select kiln dried Philippine mahogany wood. The model is made entirely by hand: From the handcarving of the aircraft fuselage, to the sanding of the aircraft's contours. Every part is assembled precisely into place. After shaping and sanding, the model passes through several stages of priming and sanding before it is hand painted to duplicate the actual colors, emblems, and insignias of the original historical aircraft. Finally, multiple coats of clear lacquer are applied to protect the artwork and provide an overall glossy finish.
